CW Duke — Refurbishment and Shopfitting

Education Case Study

  • Client: Bristol Grammar School
  • Value: £690k
  • Timescale: 9 weeks

Founded in 1532, Bristol Grammar School is the leading selective, co-educational independent day school in the Bristol area.

CW Duke were appointed to complete the combined fast track refurbishment of existing classrooms, toilets and changing facilities, as well as new construction of linked corridors and staircases, all of which would enable the school to maximize its existing facilities. The project also included external resurfacing and landscaping works.

It was important the school picked a contractor who could meet the stringent time and budget constraints, which wasn’t a problem for CW Duke, who completed initial preparatory work during the two week Easter holiday and the main build during seven week summer holiday.

When planning the project, additional considerations, included:

  • The sheer spread of the work area, which covered the majority of the school and playground.
  • Linking up with existing electrical and IT networks.
  • Ensuring work was sympathetic to the existing Victorian architecture.
